Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has said that Harry Maguire would be a good signing for the Red Devils, should they land his signature from Leicester City this summer. The Red Devils have been in regular contact with the Foxes regarding a potential deal for the England international, but so far, they have refused to meet the player’s valuation.
As such, the transfer saga seems set to continue towards the final week of the summer transfer window and Rooney believes the Red Devils would be getting a fine player, he said: “Yeah I think Harry’s a good player. Over the last few years he’s improved and got better and he’s been a main player for Leicester City but also for England. I think he’d be a good signing if they can get him.”
United have already failed with bids of around £65m and £70m for the centre-back and reports have emerged that the Foxes want fees of more than £80m to consider the player’s sale. That seems a bit steep for the Red Devils, who are also pursuing other targets and it remains to be seen whether they can seal the deal before the transfer deadline next week.
Elsewhere, the Red Devils are looking to add more creativity in the midfield and the attack, and they could pursue a couple of players to suit their needs. Sporting midfielder Bruno Fernandes has been heavily linked with the club over the past few months and reports have emerged that United could land the midfielder for around £64m before the transfer window slams shut.
Meanwhile, Paulo Dybala from Juventus has recently emerged as a surprise target and there are suggestions that the Argentine could join the club as part of the deal which would see Romelu Lukaku head to the Serie A holders. Daniel James and Aaron Wan-Bissaka are currently the only summer signings made by the club.
