Robin van Persie has hinted that Manchester United will be spending another huge sum of money in the upcoming transfer window.
The Red Devils splashed out a whopping sum of more than £ 150 million net last summer on players like Angel di Maria. However, this only helped the team managed a top four finish. Even the tactical brilliance was unable to see them remain in the title hunt for much of the campaign. However, it cannot be classified as a bad campaign since the main priority for the club was to get back into the Champions League.
Armed with the prospect of European football once again, United have the capability to attract the best players in the world. This has put a number of players on the shop window and one of them could be star striker Robin van Persie. The Dutchman has struggled to replicate his Arsenal form in the last two years. Even though he helped them win the title in Sir Alex Ferguson’s last campaign, van Persie has been personally struggling to keep himself in the starting line-up. This situation could get worse if United sign another top striker in the summer. Van Persie has been linked with a move to Juventus to replace Carlos Tevez.
“United spent £200m on players last year and they are going to spend another £200m this summer so we will have a team that can compete for the title. It is my ambition to play as many games as possible [next season]. I feel fitter than ever. And I know that the more games I play, the more it will help me prepare for the European Championships next summer.I will take everything into consideration when I decide on my future and I know I have to be realistic about the situation,” said van Persie.
